Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Supports Carbon Neutrality by Installing Solar Cell Systems at Phoncharoen Hospital and Sakhrai Hospital Under 'Solar for Lives’ Project

BANGKOK – February 14, 2025: Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has remained committed to continue its ‘Solar for Lives’ initiative, with the recent handover of solar cell systems to two more hospitals, Phoncharoen Hospital in Bueng Kan Province and Sakhrai Hospital in Nong Khai Province. The latest installations bring the total number of community hospitals benefiting from the program to 12, delivering a total capacity of 600 kilowatts and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 360 tons annually. This is in line with the company’s commitment to install solar cell systems in 40 community hospitals nationwide within 10 years since the project's launch in 2021 up to the present.

 

Mr. Shin Kubo, Executive Vice President, Corporate and Finance, Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, “The ‘Solar for Lives’ project demonstrates our unwavering commitment to contribute to the Thai society through sustainable initiatives. Integrating a solar cell system for community hospitals will reduce environmental impacts and operational costs while enhancing healthcare services for the local communities. As a result, the availability of good healthcare services to Thai people is also enhanced. We expect to invest 60 million Baht in solar cell systems installation and maintenance for40 community hospitals within 10 years. Additionally, this initiative supports sustainable energy sources for hospitals, aligning with the government's goal of driving Thailand toward carbon neutrality.”

In expressing his gratitude, M.D. Trinnakrit Sittisorn, Director of Phoncharoen Hospital, Bueng Kan Province said, “We are honored to be a part of the ‘Solar for Lives’ project. The solar cell system will significantly reduce our electricity expenses, allowing us to allocate more resources toward enhancing healthcare services for our community. This initiative also helps drive us towards our commitment to sustainability, fostering a low carbon society in the future while bringing clean energy to our local community.”

M.D. Alongkot Donla, Director of Sakhrai Hospital, Nong Khai Province added, “This initiative highlights the critical role of clean energy in advancing healthcare services. The solar cell system will significantly reduce our electricity bills, allowing us to reinvest in patient care and health programs. Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s support not only strengthens our hospital’s capabilities but also contributes to Thailand’s vision of achieving carbon neutrality.” 

‘Solar for Lives’ project is a part of Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s CSR direction ‘To Contribute and Grow with Thai Society’ supported by three pillars that include Education, Environment, and Health. Partners in the project include the Ministry of Public Health, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), and the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization). So far, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has installed a total of 12 community hospitals in Thailand, including:

  8. Ban Rai Hospital, Uthai Thani
  9. Na Dee Hospital, Prachin Buri
  10. Nayaiam Hospital, Chanthaburi
  11. Phoncharoen Hospital, Bueng Kan
  12. Sakhrai Hospital, Nong Khai
